The Review of the Pacific Islands Global Climate Observing System (PI GCOS) (“the Review”) in-country consultation phase continued in March/April 2015. Pene Lefale, the Review Team Leader, visited Hawaii from 23 March to 6 April and met with relevant US Affiliated Pacific Island Countries and Territories (Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), American Samoa, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), etc.), and US NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Pacific Headquarters staff in Honolulu. Informal consultations were held during the Pacific Risk Management Ohana (PRiMO) Conference, followed by a formal meeting after PRiMO. Lefale briefed the attendees on the Review – the what, why, when and how questions (i.e. purpose, the reasons why we’re doing it, when the Review is expected to be completed and how we’re doing it – consultation process). The attendees gave excellent initial feedback on the process. Lefale also circulated a copy of the Review Survey Questionnaire to the attendees for completion by 30 May 2015. The next in-country visit will be Apia, Samoa, in May 2015.
