As part of the Bodeker Scientific contribution to the CCII research programme, we have generated precipitation objects that define past (1971-2000) and projected future (1971-2099) changes in precipitation over New Zealand. These objects have been derived for two different precipitation thresholds (0.5 mm/hour and 1.0 mm/hour in each pixel) and from 4 different data sets of hourly precipitation viz.:
- The PERSIANN data set . This data set extends from March 2000 to December 2000.
- The PERSIANN data set corrected for biases using hourly precipitation data from sites recording precipitation within New Zealand. This data set extends from March 2000 to December 2000.
- A regional climate model simulation, provided by NIWA through CCII, where the lateral boundary conditions are provided by ERA reanalyses.
- A regional climate model simulation, again provided by NIWA through CCII, where the later boundary conditions come from the HadCM3 atmosphere-ocean global climate model run under the SRES A1 scenario.
